What Are BOTOX & Dysport?
BOTOX and Dysport are injectable wrinkle treatments called neurotoxins and are both made from a purified form of botulinum toxin A. These products work in the same way; they temporarily relax the muscles that cause lines and wrinkles, allowing the skin to gradually smooth out.
Candidates for BOTOX & Dysport
Women and men from Coeur d’Alene and Spokane should consider Dysport or BOTOX if they want to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in areas such as around the eyes and forehead. Candidates for BOTOX Cosmetic or Dysport do not have any serious medical conditions or allergies to any botulinum toxin product. Also, because the effects of Dysport and BOTOX on pregnancy are unknown, women who are or plan to become pregnant should wait until after pregnancy to receive treatment.

How Much Do BOTOX and Dysport Cost in Coeur d’Alene?
At our Coeur d’Alene practice, BOTOX costs $12 per unit and Dysport is $4.80 per unit. Unit dose is different between these two medications; however, we have priced them so the total cost per treatment area is the same. For example, treatment of the glabellar frown lines (the 11s) typically costs $288 whether we use BOTOX or Dysport. The total cost for your treatment depends on the number of units needed, which may vary from person to person. You will be given a personalized quote when you come in for a consultation.
Benefits of BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport
BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport are used specifically to treat wrinkles and lines that appear on the upper part of the face (see illustration below). As men and women age, the skin loses its smooth, taut appearance. These treatments act as a relaxing agent to keep the facial muscles in place that would normally contract due to repeated muscle movement. By “freezing” the muscles, the formation of worry lines, wrinkles, and crow’s feet on the face is drastically reduced – leading to a smoother, firmer appearance. During your consultation, Dr. Johnson will help you decide whether BOTOX Cosmetic or Dysport is more appropriate for achieving your facial rejuvenation goals.
When performing Dysport or BOTOX injections on Missoula, Kennewick, or Moses Lake-area patients, the injector will administer several tiny injections directly into the muscles that cause wrinkles and fine lines to form on the face. This treatment is fast and simple, taking as little as 15 minutes. These injections can provide months of lasting wrinkle reduction results, taking years off of your appearance.
Comfort on Your Terms
If you’re feeling anxious about your injections, we offer self-administered nitrous oxide with Pro-Nox™. Sometimes also called “laughing gas,” Nitrous oxide is a safe, odorless gas that temporarily reduces feelings of anxiety and stress. Learn more during your consultation.
BOTOX vs. Dermal Fillers
While they are both injectable facial rejuvenation treatments, BOTOX and dermal fillers have their differences, including:
- Works by allowing wrinkles to smooth out.
- Improvements develop gradually.
- Results last 3 to 4 months.
- Work by adding volume under the wrinkle, fold, or hollow.
- Improvements are immediate.
- Results last as long as 1 to 2 years. (Sculptra even longer.)
Can BOTOX or Dysport Be Combined With Other Treatments?
Many women and men are getting BOTOX Cosmetic and Dysport treatments because they provide facial rejuvenation without invasive surgeries and extensive downtime. Either option can be combined with other treatments, including:
- Injectable fillers to add volume to the cheeks and around the eyes and smooth away smile lines around the mouth.
- Laser skin rejuvenation to improve the texture and coloring of the skin.
- Profound™ skin tightening to firm and tighten skin on the lower face, jawline, and neck.
Dr. Johnson combines Dysport or BOTOX with fillers for a nonsurgical liquid facelift for people with early signs of aging or those who want an alternative to facial plastic surgery.
