CoolSculpting® Still in the News

If you think many talk shows are talking about the same thing… you’re right.
Dr. Oz, The Doctors, Good Morning America, and Rachel Ray all have featured the same story: CoolSculpting® .
CoolSculpting is a new FDA cleared procedure designed to eliminate stubborn fat. Locally, I was the first to offer this procedure in my Coeur D’ Alene office.
Abdomen fat or belly fat is the most diet and exercise resistant. But now there is a new way to win the battle of the bulge.
Unlike many other methods of fat reduction, the CoolSculpting procedure involves no needles, no surgery and no downtime. CoolSculpting is an ideal alternative to traditional liposuction.
During the FDA-cleared procedure, a non-invasive applicator delivers precisely controlled cooling to the treatment area. Treatment cycles last between one to two hours. Patients can have additional procedures for more pronounced effects if they desire.
This procedure was developed by the Wellman Center for Photomedicine. They determined that fat cells are more susceptible to cold and can be selectively, painlessly and permanently destroyed. Starting several weeks after the procedure, cooled fat cells begin a process called apoptosis and begin to shrink and disappear. The body proceeds to naturally and gradually eliminate the cooled fat cells, reducing the thickness of the fat layer.
As a  cosmetic surgeon in Couer d’Alene, I have treated thousands of patients using lasers, intense pulsed light, injectables, fillers, and Dysport®. But I am very excited about recently developed technologies in body sculpting.
When I train other surgeons on this procedure, I remind them that our clients don’t have to go through long recovery periods if they as physicians stay up to date on the latest technologies.
We’d love to sit down with you to determine if this procedure is right for your situation and goals.
