Your Treatment Options

Once you find your skin imperfection below, you can explore the services we provide for each category. We offer more than one approach for most concerns to give you choices that fit your condition and your lifestyle. Dr. Johnson and our team can help you determine what treatment might work best for you at a consultation.

Stretch Marks

SmartSkin CO2™: These treatments resurface the skin to reveal the smoother, unblemished layers below. In a series of sessions, we can target stretch marks on any area of the body with customized laser pulses delivered to a precise skin depth. The average treatment takes only 20 minutes.

Affirm™: Known for producing effective results in less time, Affirm laser treatments deliver multiple wavelengths of energy into the skin at once. This means treating both the surface skin where stretch marks are obvious and deeper levels where they originate.

Laser Genesis: No downtime is required after these simple treatments that encourage collagen to grow and improve both the look and texture of skin. After a series of sessions, stretch marks even out to match the color, tone, and feel of surrounding skin.

Varicose & Spider Veins

Laser Vein Treatments: Best for small spider veins on the face and legs, laser vein treatments work non-invasively. We pass a laser over the skin, and the dark veins absorb the energy, which damages them. They eventually dissolve and fade away, leaving clear skin behind.

Endovenous Laser Therapy (EVLT or ELAS): This stronger laser vein treatment works from the inside out and is best for large, bulging varicose veins. We insert a fiber-optic strand directly into the vein which transmits laser energy, damaging the vein. Although multiple sessions are often needed, these laser treatment options have the benefit of being less invasive than surgery.

Sclerotherapy: In this treatment, we inject visible veins with an irritant solution that causes them to close up, dissolve, and be absorbed back into the body. This option is usually best for patients with slightly larger varicose or spider veins that are not responsive to surface laser treatments. At least 2 sessions are required for effective treatment.

Ambulatory Microphlebectomy: This surgical approach involves very tiny incisions for physical spider vein removal. At our Spokane and Coeur D'Alene offices, we can provide sedatives in addition to a local anesthetic to enhance comfort, but most patients find this option easy to tolerate, and it often requires fewer treatment sessions than other approaches.

Tattoos

RevLite® SI Laser Tattoo Removal: For patients from Spokane and beyond, we perform tattoo removal with this advanced, FDA-cleared system. It works for tattoos of almost every color and uses laser pulses to break down ink particles, which the body then breaks down and eliminates. Several sessions spaced 6 to 8 weeks apart work best, but treatments take less than an hour and require little to no downtime.

Scars

Laser Genesis: In the same way that this laser treatment promotes collagen growth to treat other conditions, such as stretch marks, it's also an effective option for scars, improving both color and texture. A series of non-invasive treatment sessions produces the best results.

Dermal Fillers: Most people think of injectable products such as JUVÉDERM®, RADIESSE®, Restylane®, and JUVÉDERM VOLUMA™ XC as options to plump up sagging skin and fill in wrinkles. Capitalizing on the same filling properties, they can also be used to plump up scars to even out their texture. Plus, many products come with the added bonus of collagen stimulation to help scars fade over time.

SmartSkin CO2: These laser treatments not only resurface the top layers of rough scars caused by acne or injury, but they also promote healing from within by spurring collagen growth. SmartSkin treatments are great for targeting specific spots with a precise laser strength for best results.

Surgical scar revision: For more severe scars that are unresponsive to minimally invasive treatments such as lasers, it is sometimes best to surgically remove the scar tissue that is too damaged to heal smoothly. When this is the case, Dr. Johnson uses his many years of surgical experience to remove the scar tissue using very fine, careful incisions that heal better than the original.
